DJ
CrG |

 |
|
Hi I’m CrG but you can call me
Craig! I’ve been DJ’ing for about 7 years, since the age
of 17 and I play Trance music.
I have grown to love music in all
styles since a very young age. My 2 brothers have been
raving since the early 90’s. This has had a lot of
influence on me and my family! My parents have supported
me throughout my DJ career which has helped me
dramatically, “thank god” or else I wouldn’t have been
able to play my music as loud as I sometimes do.
The DJ - I got my first set at
Claire’s Nightclub in Torquay playing alongside Chris
Finn and Matt Vinyl in November 2002. This was my first
major gig; I was “shitting a brick” but loved every
minute of it. The club was busy and everyone had a great
time. “Mission Accomplished”.
As times moved on I faded away from
playing vinyl and started playing CD’s. Today MP3 tracks
are widely available which makes things easier for
everyone, especially the DJ. Although I don’t think the
record labels or the producer make much money from it
but overall the MP3 Empire is definitely in full swing!
I have hundreds of gigabytes of music and thousands of
CD’s all stored and kept secured. When playing out I
like to bring a wide selection of different styles of
music and CD’s allow me to do that. Unfortunately with
vinyl you are limited on how much music you can take
with you due to the sheer weight of a record bag, unless
you have about 10 people carrying your records bags for
you ;)
Over the past 5 years my DJ career
has taken me around the country playing alongside some
of the best DJ’s in the world no thanks to my continued
support by close friends and fans. “Thank You”.
I have accomplished many residencies
during my career such as the Syndicate Super club -
Bristol, Eyecon at the Dance Academy – Plymouth and my
ongoing 7 year residency at Claire’s/Bohemia Nightclub –
Torquay. These clubs have allowed me to play with only
the best DJ’s and I couldn’t “Thank” them enough. My DJ
highlights are Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Above &
Beyond, John O’Callaghan, Rank 1, Signum, Judge Jules,
Marco V, Matt Darey, Sander van Doorm, Eddie Halliwell,
Lisa Lashes and Mauro Picotto all of which I played in
supporting roles at various nightclubs & festivals
around the country.
I have played many festivals like
Run to the Sun and Air Fusion and even play in Ibiza.
My DJ career has seen me play to
thoughsands of music lovers. A truly “amazing
experience”.
The Music – If you have the
opportunity to come and see me DJ then expect a set with
lots of energy. I like to make people dance and have a
good time. I like my music to have emotion, feeling and
euphoria and Trance music does exactly that. I love
vocals where people can sing along to. There’s nothing
more exciting than seeing thousands of Trance music
lovers singing Oceanlab “Satellite”, “Amazing” and if
that doesn’t shiver the hairs on your back try “Out of
the Blue” by Ferry Corsten.
J
The Future – I’m currently working
very hard on a new night called “Magnetic”. I’m working
very closely with a great friend and DJ called Fondoo
aka Paul Lowndes. We both have great plans for Magnetic
but at the moment we are building its reputation as one
of the “best alternative dance night in the South West”.
Each month Magnetic holds an event at Torquay’s finest
nightclub “Bohemia”. Magnetic supports the very best in
local DJ talent as well as top quality guest DJ’s. We
don’t aim stick to one style of music but host various
styles from House music through to Hardcore. We are
constantly lookout for good DJ’s so if you think you
have what it takes? Please get in touch.
I’ve always wanted to host a regular
dance event so Magnetic is very special to me. I have a
lot of support from clubbers and I hope by working
together we can make Magnetic the best dance event in
the UK!
Please join the Magnetic Facebook
group where you can voice your opinions, read the latest
news and find out the latest events and download mixes
from guest DJ’s and residents.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this
as much as I have writing it…
You can find me on Face Book as
Craig Stamp, please get in touch and no doubt I’ll see
you in the club!

DJ SugarShaker |

|
|
Sugarshaker – The story so far… The beginning...
2006-2007
Sugarshaker’s first attempt at mixing was approximately
2 years ago and although initially she was quite
apprehensive it very quickly became her goal to win over
the decks, before setting out to win over the clubbers!
It seems that fate has played a big part in
Sugarshaker’s journey to become a successful DJ; having
worked for a radio station running the on-air club
promotions meant she made many contacts in the industry,
including Bobkat duo Marcus and Matt Thorne (L n’ M
Projekt – Everywhere chart position number 35) and
producer Leeroy (also of L n’ M Projekt fame) who guided
her along the right path towards her first gig at
Housework.(www.myspace.com/welovehousework)
on
NYE 2004! Since that first NYE set nothing can stop the
girl; her determination to get her self known by all in
the industry through networking has become a full time
job-and if she can get a promoter to listen to her mix,
you can guarantee Sugarshaker will get her set! During
2005/2006 she regularly played alongside Marc Vedo
(Slinky/Koolwaters) in London (Beduin bar) and Bristol
(Fez Club); as well as warming up for Pete Tong (Radio
1) at Koolwaters 5th Birthday party alongside Deepgroove
and Bobkat. More recently she will be been found filling
the dance floor every month at Housework (‘best club
night in the South West’ DJ Mag) for DJ’s including
Fergie (Radio 1), Oliver Lang (Dusted) and James Algate
(Godskitchen). In October 2006, due to the demand from
clubbers for her bouncy and uplifting sets, Sugarshaker
was officially awarded a residency at Housework (www.houseworksucks.co.uk)
and plans to help the promoters to grow the success of
the night outside of the South West.
2006
also saw Sugarshaker win the opportunity to play at the
extremely popular ‘Plastic’ @ Dragon Eye in Birmingham (www.myspace.com/plasticbirmingham)
and has since been invited to play there regularly in
2007 as well as at the new ‘PlasticSelect’ in Sutton
Coldfield. To add to this success Sugarshaker is working
closely with an agency in France, Redlight Productions (www.redlightproductions.fr)
to secure regular gigs there and already has 2 confirmed
bookings…it’s all go, go, go!
Although
Sugarshaker only has a relatively short history in the
music industry she realised the importance of producing
her own stuff very quickly, so has already turned her
hand to production. Working closely alongside producer
Leeroy they have completed 4 Electro House tracks that
have had some amazing feedback from labels including
Azuli and Toolroom: The interest that Sugarshaker and
Leeroy have had from the record labels mentioned, has
given them a huge amount of confidence and since the
initial feedback, they now have 3/4 labels interested in
their tracks and are currently reviewing contracts. They
are looking for the tracks to be signed and ready for
release by the spring; in the meantime they continue to
work on new tracks with number 5 about to be completed!
and then.... 2007-2008 2007 is definitely proving itself
to be a busy year so far for Sugarshaker.
She is
seeing a huge increase in the number of confirmed
bookings made and mainly due to the professional service
provided by her agency, Breed management. tbc....
Sugarshaker’s determination to succeed is highlighted by
the fact that she even co-writes her lyrics with Leeroy
and she sings all of her own vocals – pretty impressive
for a starter!
Sugarshaker’s passion for music has been
life-long and with her business acumen and determination
it won’t be long before she is in high demand as a DJ
and Producer; her style is diverse from progressive to
dirty electro but spinning anything chunky, fat and
uplifting to get those bods a movin' on the dancefloor,
is what gets Sugarshaker her reputation as a clubber's
DJ and why she is the next big International Female
House DJ to watch out for!!

DJ Henry The Eighth - uSED gOODS |

|
|
My name is Henry The Eighth and I have
been DJing for 11 years and partying for longer!
I run the uSED gOODS DJ collective with Wheels playing
Electro, Techno, Breaks and House (the filthier the
better!) but have a passion for lots of types of music,
dance or otherwise.
When I was growing up I used to listen to
rock and grunge and had a relatively small knowledge of
dance music. That all changed in 1992 when I was handed
my first mix tape, Fantazia Castle Donnington,
Easygroove. An explosive introduction to dance music
opened my ears to a new sound and sub-culture and I’ve
never looked back!
I bought my trustworthy 1210s in ’98 and
began playing trance, hardhouse, funky house and as many
old skool tunes as I could find!
Warehouse in Plymouth was my first introduction to
proper clubbing and when that closed down (what a
waste!) I moved over to Dance Academy which is when I
got seriously into clubbing!
In 2001 secured my first DJ gig at Jack
Cham’s in Tavistock, playing House and Trance and later
Breaks (when I discovered it!) every Friday and
Saturday.
I continued Djing there until September
2002 when I had the honour of becoming a resident in the
Blue Room@Dance Academy playing Funky House, Classic
Trance, Old Skool House and ’92-’94 Hardcore, great!!
I left Academy in ’04 (returned at the
end ’04 until June ’05) to spend the season in Ibiza
djing in bars six nights a week, from 9-4am.
I returned for the 2005 season working
for Om records (deep house label), DJing at Exstasis
Nightclub and promotional work for club nights.
Currently I’m very into Electro and
Tech-House, HOUSE HAS BALLS AGAIN!!!! However, I like to
produce sets that encompass lots of genres, Breaks,
House, Old Skool and whatever else grabs my attention to
create a truly unique set and experience.
Over the last four years uSED gOODS
parties have taken place at Jack Cham’s in Plymouth and
Viper in Exmouth, The Hub, Mambo, The Velvet Lounge and
The Bamboo Garden in Exeter as well as bookings for
festivals, private parties and in talks with other
venues.
This year uSED gOODS goes to Ibiza to
play at several venues alongside House Trap (More info
on this and other events at
www.used-goods.co.uk
and
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2350808181
Keep your eyes peeled for uSED gOODS and
Henry the Eighth!!!

DJ Lee H - House Trap |

|
|
Lee H was born on the
7th December 1979 and began mixing at the tender age of
14. He gained his first set at just 16, playing at The
Tube in Tiverton, playing for a small promotion called
Plastic Fantastic. After playing at the Tube a couple
times that same year, Lee also became resident for Big
Hammer Promotions, playing at The Burston in Bow. The
Burston was a small club, with a capacity of around 300,
but renowned for its underground scene. After 6 months,
Big Hammer branched out holding nights further afield,
at venues such as The Grove in Seaton and The Paradise
Club in Honiton. By this time Lee H was playing most
weekends and the bookings came flooding in. Promoters,
like Legend and Madhouse Mania from North Devon, who
held bigger nights with DJ such as Carl Cox, Trevor
Rockliffe and Tony De Vit also asked Lee to come down
and play. This is where Lee really started getting
behind his music, to impress the punters.
Lee was asked to
headline at a number of Big Hammer events, at the
Burston in Bow. The place was always rammed. Lee
managed to gain other sets that year abroad playing in
Magaluf, Spain, at Funky Monkeys and Charlie’s,
alongside high flyers such as Judge Jules and Lisa
Pin-Up. On his return to the UK Lee took some time out
to get his life back on track and find a 9 to 5 job. He
now works for Devon County Council as one of their
Corporate Project Officers.
In 2004 Lee finally got
back behind the 1’s and 2’s playing funky/electro house
at various local bars and clubs in the Exeter area, such
as The 3 Fat Fish, the Velvet Lounge, and the Zephyr
Bar. He also entered the Dance Academy DJ Comp in
Plymouth and made it to the semi-finals, which was a
fantastic boost and again gained him the recognition he
desired.
Over the years Lee has
picked up a number of residencies for Tranz@ction
(Cornwall), Used Goods (Exeter), Plastic Fondu (London),
Electronic Sessions (London), and most recently he was
asked to become one of The Gallery’s Bi-monthly
residents at the Ministry Of Sound in the capital.
Lee has also played one
off sets for some of the biggest brands in the business,
such as the Gatecrasher, Tidy, Slammin Vinyl (Westfest),
Judgement Sundays (Ibiza) and Global Gathering in the
Strongbow arena.
Putting DJing aside,
Lee is a very keen promoter. He owns his own brand,
House Trap and also runs Consequence! with 2 others.
House Trap was born on
the 28th March 2008 at The Velvet Lounge in
Exeter. Since then nights have grown and gathered quite
a following. Two of the most memorable House Trap events
for Lee has to be The House Trap Ibiza Special with
Brandon Block and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Big
Burston Reunion which were both held at The Velvet
Lounge.
House Trap goes on tour
to Ibiza this year (2009), so catch them at Hush,
Plastik, Bar Viva, Judgment Sundays and a whole load of
other parties. Booom!!

DJ Wheels |

Since visiting Ibiza back in 1997 I became hooked on the
whole culture of dance music. Dancing until the sun came
up, chatting rubbish to strangers, feeling awful during
the day and then picking myself up from the floor,
freshening up and doing it all over again.
I returned back to the white Isle in
1999 and again in 2001 just to check that I really did
enjoy this crazy electronic music………..I did.
My clubbing took a harder edge during
2001 as I started venturing down to Bournemouth to visit
Slinky during its harder nights. This in turn led to
meeting many of the Slinky regulars and becoming good
friends with a small band of them. One of these people
happened to be Dav Gomrass, the resident dj at Slinky.
Many chats with him convinced me that if I loved dance
music that much, I should purchase some decks and get
practicing.
So, during 2004, I finally got hold
of my beloved Technics 1200’s and started purchasing
vinyl. After hours of frustration I decided that I
needed extra help to improve my skills and took part in
the South West’s first DJ Academy which culminated in me
playing a sweet Hard House peak time slot at The Amber
Rooms. (the feeling of dropping a stonking tune and
watching the crowds reaction is something I will
remember forever.)
It was here that I met Elusive, who
inturn introduced me to Henry the Eight and Deny. From
there I was invited to become a uSED gOODS dj and am
hoping that this will progress my skills further as well
as the genres I play.
I never thought I would say it, but I
am proud to be uSED gOODS.
